Cypress Hill goes full Spanish: "Dios Bendiga" lands July 24 and it's about damn time

Thirty-some years deep and Cypress Hill is finally doing the thing a lot of us always wanted. On July 24 they drop Dios Bendiga, their first full-length Spanish-language album, out on HYBE Latin America and their first complete project in over four years. Let that sink in.

The dudes who basically dragged Latino hip-hop into the mainstream are planting a flag in the language they grew up around. Eric Bobo ran the sessions as musical director, they knocked the whole thing out in a two-week sprint last November, and the guest list is stacked with Argentina's Trueno and Mexico's Alemán.

The lead single "Campeones" pulls original member Mellow Man Ace back into the fold, which is the kind of full-circle move that makes me a little emotional. This is the crossover record the culture deserves. If it hits like the singles suggest, everybody else is playing catch-up.

Deep Purple gets heavy: "Splat!" is the loudest these lifers have been in decades

Nobody had Deep Purple on their 2026 heaviest-album bingo card, but here we are. Splat! dropped July 3, their 24th record, and the band is flat out calling it their heaviest in years. Bob Ezrin produced, Simon McBride ditched tube amps for modelers and says it sounds like a freight train, and the critics are eating it up with talk of a new golden age. Fifty-plus years in and these old dogs are still swinging harder than half the kids. Respect.

Crystal Lake borrows a voice: the Jinjer summer run is a three-band gauntlet

The Jinjer, Crystal Lake and Entheos run is tearing across North America through July 24, and Crystal Lake are rolling with borrowed pipes, tapping Myke Terry of Volumes to front the opening leg. Three of my favorite live acts on one bill. Go see it.

Vayan a verlo.
