Well, that is that. Dave Mustaine is closing the book on Megadeth, and he is not leaving the door cracked for anybody.
The farewell run, This Was Our Life, is the end, full stop, and Mustaine already shot down the reunion fantasy: no Marty, no Kiko, no victory-lap guest spots, because this is Megadeth, not a puppet show. There is one more record coming, a self-titled swing that lands in January with a cover of Metallica's Ride the Lightning buried inside, and then no more studio albums, period. Say what you want about the man, and people have said plenty, but forty-plus years of thrash built on spite and precision does not just happen. He dragged an entire genre uphill with him.
