Judas Priest keeps the faith: the Metal Gods are already loading album number twenty
Fifty-plus years in and Judas Priest still will not sit down. Good. Somebody has to keep the lights on.
The Metal Gods kicked off their Faithkeepers run on July 25 at Germany's BOBfest, and they are hauling it across ten European cities through July and August like a band with something to prove instead of a Hall of Fame plaque on the shelf. That alone would be plenty. It is not. Bassist Ian Hill went and confirmed the part that actually made me sit up: Priest are heading back into the studio in 2026 to cut album number twenty, the follow-up to 2024's Invincible Shield, once the touring wraps. Twenty records. Let that land for a second. Most bands do not get twenty good years, and these leather-clad lifers are staring down a twentieth album with Halford still shrieking the paint off the walls. No victory lap, no farewell-tour nonsense, no puppet-show reunion angle. Just more steel and a promise to come back louder. Flowers for the grind.
Babymetal loads the North American run: Halestorm and Violent Vira in tow
Babymetal are about to turn North America into a fox-sign circus. The twenty-date run kicks off August 30 in San Diego, opening for My Chemical Romance at Petco Park, before the headline stretch starts September 2 in Denver with Halestorm riding shotgun and Violent Vira opening the pit. It rolls into early October and closes out at the Aftershock festival. Then they take it south, hitting Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Santiago and Mexico City in November and December. Say what you want about the gimmick. The pit does not lie. Flowers for the grind.
Cristian Castro goes full metal: the pop idol's alter ego summons Quetzalcoatl
File this under things I did not have on my card. Pop idol Cristian Castro has spent twelve years as his metal alter ego Lugh Draculea, and his band La Esfinge just announced a third album built around Quetzalcoatl, likely titled La serpiente emplumada. Single Mensajero drops September 17. Flowers for the grind.
No basta.
